But, Tony Branch was a really cool guy. I enjoyed his points of views, his speculation, research on her team and situation, his friendship with Rex. What I really like about these authors' writing is that they offer realistic dual points of views of both female and male perspective. It's rare and refreshing to see a man behave and talk in a realistic way in romance novels although, to be fair, this book in particular is a healthy blend of sports drama and romance.

Although it took me a few days of reading to really get into the book, once the action got started, I was entertained. It's not the best book in the series, but it was ok. And it was a real treat to see Nate again and even Holly for a few pages at the end. Sykes' Bigger Than Beckham. I was able to finish it today and I have been trying to figure out what to say about this book.

So, before I get into that let me share what the book is about and what I thought of the story. Martha Winston a sport journalist who happen to inherit her father's soccer team. Knowing not much about soccer except that her father loved the sport and promise to keep it going after his death. However, the team hits some financial hard times that send the vultures around to try to collect the team.

Tony Branch, former British soccer, has a desire to own an American soccer team and he has an opportunity to collect a team. Tony makes an offer to purchase Martha's team, but she refuses.

Can't understand why she would want to keep a team sport that she has no clue to run. Is it possible for them to come an agreement? As I have been reading Bigger Than Beckham for the past few days, I was trying to figure what I would say about the book. I have to be honest, I had a hard time getting into the book.

I really tried. I wanted to love the book.

See a Problem?

However, it just wasn't working for me. It could have been the soccer thing or just me. I guess I was looking for more tension in the hero and heroine after all he was trying to take her team away from her. They just kinda worked things out between them.

I liked the story enough to check other books by the author and I might find something that calls my name. So, I leave you today and I hope you find an enjoyable read.

May 02, Paige rated it it was ok Shelves: books , kindle-free. Tony Branch, once soccer hero in London or football , is now a team owner who loves turning losing teams around. With a relationship blooming with Tony, Martha would much rather Tony win the quickly escalating bidding war, but his unwillingness to become partners and keep her current staff in jobs threatens to kill the deal. Jan 26, Amanda rated it liked it Shelves: ebooks-i-own , 3-star-reads , 3-star-reviews. I am teetering here between a star I really feel there was just something missing in this book. I loved the main characters but for as long as this book was compared to the first two there could have been something more exciting. With the kidnapping of Maddie in book 1, and Holly being held hostage I felt this book didn't live up to the other 2.

Not to mention the book ended weirdly to I am teetering here between a star Not to mention the book ended weirdly to me I was hoping for at least an engagement or something but I am having hopes that MAYBE there will be something in the next book. I hope the next book is faster paced than this one, because days for me to read a book is shenanigans especially when it takes usually days for me to read a full novel.

Sep 29, Christina Montminy rated it really liked it Shelves: favorites , sports-romances. I enjoyed this book but not as much as the other 2. There was more sex in this book that the others but this one didn't seem as hot as the others. Martha was a hoot but also a sad loveable character, trying to make up for disappointing her father yrs before she makes him a death bed promise to keep his soccer team going.

Things eventually make Martha have to decide to sell her team but hero Tony to the rescue might just save her. I would recommend this book to friends but not as enthusiastically as I would've the first 2 in the series. Jan 08, Gina Ceballos rated it it was amazing Shelves: reads. Soccer is not really my thing.

Not a sport I like or watch or care for in any way. That been said… I truly enjoy every word in this book. Tony was the Knight in shining armor or at least he thought he was to the damsel in distress.

A damsel that was not looking to be rescue, but for the opportunity to rescue herself. The chemistry between this two was amazing. Once again the writers surprised me unfolding the story. Feb 14, Kate rated it liked it Shelves: e-rom.

Fantasy football Week 13 waiver wire: Can Rashaad Penny cash in?

I think this one was my favorite of the series. Martha and Tony were very cute together and I enjoyed the backdrop of her struggles to keep her promise to her father and his desire to buy her team. I was a little irritated with them that it took so long for them to come to the solution that I thought was pretty obviously staring them in the face. Characters failing to effectively communicate is one of my romance novel pet peeves so the fact that she never told Tony the.

It was nice to see Nate again and I was relieved to see the obvious solution finally pointed out. Mar 04, Nancy Goldberg rated it really liked it. I'm so glad Martha got her own book -- I loved her as secondary in the other two books in the series. She's funny and someone I'd love to have as a friend. I liked Tony also, as well as the author's descriptions of London and Jacksonville. This book started out slow for me at first, but the pace picked up.

I don't know anything about soccer, so it was interesting to learn a little more about it. I understand Martha's devotion to her father getting in the way of the problems the team w I'm so glad Martha got her own book -- I loved her as secondary in the other two books in the series.
